What to expect

Creativity is a powerful force. Creativity channeled through community is even more so. Join us for kundalini yoga followed by an open mic. Expect activating your creative life force and channeling this vital energy through the power of expression alongside other creatives and artists. All modes of expression are welcome, from poetry, music, dance, to storytelling.

Kundalini shakti is a divine feminine energy that’s located at the base of the spine and is a key concept in traditional yogic philosophies. The word kundalini comes from the Sanskrit word kundal, which means "coiled up". Shakti means "power".

Kundalini yoga awakens this energy and consciousness, bringing this vital energy coiled in the root chakra at the base of your spine to ascend into your crown chakra, connecting your creative life force to your higher-self.

How to prepare

  • Wear comfortable clothing for light movement. The all white dress code is preferred but not required. It’s more important to wear what makes you feel the most comfortable and grounded in your body.

  • Bring your own yoga mat and water bottle.

  • Bring any short piece you would like to share for the open mic. Participation is optional and all modes of expression are welcome.

  • Avoid eating a heavy meal before, a snack or light meal is ok.

Who is this for?

Creatives, intuitives, artists, writers, musicians, and anyone who is looking to get in touch with the power of their divine feminine. If you’re new to Kundalini, or yoga in general, no worries! This practice is accessible for beginners. In a typical Kundalini practice, there are three parts:

  • An opening chant, or “tuning in”

  • A “kriya”, which is a sequence of postures paired with breathwork, and a brief warm-up for your spine

  • A closing meditation with the sound of gong or song
